This path in the Ecuadorian Pacific Coast is known as the Route of the Sun and has an interesting history on the way. We will travel thru the coastal landscapes, small, fishermen’s towns, pre-colombian cultures and spots for diving, hiking, snorkel or surfing.
TOUR HIGHLIGHTS
The Santa Catalina de Colonche church made out of guayacan trees is a unique landmark of the area. Montañita, with its lively night life and social beaches allows for a fun, relaxing time. Not just humpback whale watching, but the opportunity to see other species like seagulls and sea lions at Isla de la Plata it’s like going to a “Petite Galápagos”. The beach of Los Frailes stands as one of the most beautiful in the Ecuadorian coast, with wide beaches of white sand.
Seasons
The Sun and fun will be waiting for you at Montañita and Puerto Lopez from December to May. Between June and September Humpback Whales arrive from the Antartic to give birth and to mate, and you will be able to see this huge animals very close in their natural environment.

Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Early departure to the Ecuador’s Pacific coast. Our first stop is at the Real Alto Museum, this archeological complex includes fine examples of prehispanic traditional housing and local agricultural techniques.
Continuing on our journey we drive by small fishing villages while discovering beautiful and secluded beaches. Stop at “Santa Catalina de Colonche” church, one of the oldest wooden churches in Ecuador built exclusively from local “Guayacan” trees. Next, a visit to the township of Libertador Bolivar allow us some shopping time for traditional handicrafts
Time for lunch in a beautiful hacienda, and enjoy its activities like hiking, cycling or horse-back riding.
Next to visit Two Mangas, a hidden town where the famous vegetable Ivory is manufactured and a short stop in “Montañita” an unique town, famous for its night life.
Day 2: Morning visit to Isla de la Plata in the Machalilla National Park. We will board a yacht to take us to the island, also known as “Petite Galapagos” because of its remarkable biodiversity. We will have the opportunity to observe seagulls and other species of birds. Next, leisure time for hiking the island’s trails or snorkeling. From July to September, we can observe the humpback whales, their interaction and play during their mating season.

Day 3: Morning visit to museum “ In Situ de Agua Blanca” located in the Machalilla National Park, this museum contains prehispanic archeological exhibitions.
After leaving the national park, we will visit one of the most beautiful white sand beaches of the Ecuadorian coast, "Los Frailes", there will be time for relaxing and sunbathing. Afternoon return to Guayaquil
